CHDK gets loaded into your camera's memory upon bootup either manually or automatically. Most of them you may never use. This does not affect common modes like, M, P and Auto, but might affect scripts that use more obscure modes, especially if the are referred to by number rather than capmode. I suspect that an accidental minute exposure may have somewhat damaged the sensor, but you're really not supposed to do that! Thank you for the information.

It ain't going to ruin the camera. Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver.
I am very tempted to do it, but I do not want to ruin my camera. Mark the card so you don't forget which one it's on sz30 you decide to take it out of the camera. Does anyone know anything about this?
Oct 28, Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer. About Digital Camera Firmware: I have an SX IS. Chsk have not tried it for my SX40 yet, but there are a number of people here that have used it on various cameras with NO problems. It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
However, bear in mind that applying an earlier build might not always be possible. Just make sure you download the LATEST version because there were a lot of bugs in previous versions that are now fixed.

I still haven't figured out how to get RAW pics that aren't extremely noisy It doesn't harm your camera in any way because it is downloaded to the memory card.
